    In 2016, Sheriff Hobby Walker resigned after being accused in a lawsuit of pressuring deputies to provide him with marijuana for his cancer-stricken aunt. Two former deputies claimed they were fired for refusing to comply with his request. The lawsuit named Walker and Winston County as defendants, with the county seeking dismissal of the case. A hearing was scheduled for March 17, 2016, in Double Springs.
