In April 2017, Pam Freeman was named in a lawsuit by inmate Kyle Wallace, who alleged that Freeman was aware of and failed to address unsanitary conditions in the jail. Wallace claimed that his cell was flooded with contaminated water, and his grievances were ignored, leading to health problems.
