In April 2022, Officer Shane Privette fatally shot 29-year-old Jalen Randle while attempting to serve an arrest warrant. Randle was unarmed at the time. Privette had previously been indicted and acquitted twice on charges related to police brutality. The shooting led to renewed scrutiny of the department’s use-of-force policies.
