In 2017, Officer James Aoki responded to a noise complaint and confronted Shajuan Gray in her apartment. Aoki allegedly dragged Gray out of her apartment while she was wearing only a bath towel and arrested her. Gray filed a civil rights lawsuit against the city and Aoki, which was settled for $125,000. Despite the incident, Aoki remains employed by the Euclid Police Department.
