In 2006, Deputy James Lepper was involved in the arrest of Ronald Eaton, who later filed a lawsuit alleging excessive force and wrongful arrest. Eaton claimed that Lepper, while off-duty, accosted him and broke his right shoulder in a restaurant parking lot without proper cause. The case was settled in 2011 for $725,000, paid by insurance companies.
