In 2018, James “Troy” Durham, a former Somerset County sheriff’s deputy, was convicted of second-degree assault for a brutal beating in Pocomoke City, Maryland. The incident occurred on September 25, 2018, when Durham punched and kicked the victim in the head during an argument, resulting in serious injuries that required extensive medical treatment. Durham was sentenced to seven years in prison on June 29, 2020.
