As Police Chief, Marlin was indicted in February 2025 for mishandling or removing evidence from the department’s evidence room. The evidence room was unsecured, with a hole in the wall and a broomstick used to jimmy the door open, leading to unrestricted access. This negligence contributed to the death of a dispatcher from a suspected overdose in 2024. ([apnews.com](https://apnews.com/article/066c954c177f33feb96060df368eb093?utm_source=openai))
