In February 2023, Deputy Jason N. Edwards was terminated and arrested following an investigation into multiple grand larceny cases in Fairfield County. He was charged with four counts of grand larceny and one count of conspiracy. The incidents occurred over several months at a property near U.S. Hwy. 321N in the White Oak area. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Edwards’ actions were inexcusable and emphasized zero tolerance for criminal activity among deputies.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
