In September 2019, while serving as a correctional officer, Pouncy conducted a strip search of detainee Jarius Brown. During the search, Pouncy and another officer, DeMarkes Grant, repeatedly punched Brown in the head, face, and body without justification. Brown suffered a broken eye socket, broken nose, and other injuries. Pouncy failed to obtain medical care for Brown and falsified reports to cover up the incident. In April 2024, Pouncy pled guilty to federal civil rights violations and was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison in October 2024.
