In February 2020, Assistant Police Chief Jeff Buckles posted a Facebook comment suggesting harm to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats, stating, ‘Pelosi just ripped up his speech. Road Side bomb on her way home and any other Dumbocrats.’ This led to his placement on paid administrative leave and a subsequent due process hearing. Despite his apology, the Geraldine Town Council voted 5-1 to terminate Buckles on March 3, 2020.
