In May 2001, Officer Jeff Eddings was terminated after an Internal Affairs Board investigation concluded he engaged in illegal gambling activities, violating Arkansas law and multiple department policies. The investigation revealed Eddings used a gaming device in a nightclub and received a cash prize from a bartender. Additionally, Eddings was found to have informed nightclubs of impending police raids, advising his wife, who worked as an exotic dancer, to stay home during such operations. The Civil Service Commission upheld his termination, and subsequent legal challenges were unsuccessful.
