In June 2003, Sergeant Jeff Fowler was placed on administrative leave in connection with the theft of ammunition from the sheriff’s office. He was subsequently fired on July 29, 2003. The Montana Department of Criminal Investigations forwarded the case to the state Attorney General’s Office for further action.
