In May 2013, Officer Jeffrey Jordan engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a suspect, Antwaun S. Bryant, who was driving at excessive speeds and disregarding traffic signals. The chase resulted in Bryant colliding with a vehicle driven by Silvester Avant, causing Avant to sustain substantial injuries. Avant filed a lawsuit against the City of Conway, the Conway Police Department, and Officer Jordan, alleging negligence in the pursuit that led to his injuries. The lawsuit sought actual and punitive damages, as well as attorneys’ fees.
