Former Deputy Jeremy Barnes pleaded guilty in December 2022 to false imprisonment after detaining and tasing a 15-year-old student at Española Valley High School in May 2019. As part of his plea agreement, Barnes is prohibited from serving as a law enforcement officer in the future.
