In 2023, former Deputy Jeremy Mooney was convicted of civil rights violations for using excessive force against a restrained suspect. Mooney pepper-sprayed the victim directly in the face and punched him multiple times, resulting in injury. He was found guilty on three counts of deprivation of rights under color of law, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
