Former officer Jeremy Rose was convicted in 2014 of multiple sex crimes against a high-school-aged girl, including tricking her into sending nude photos under the guise of a fake modeling contract and creating child pornography using hidden cameras. He served less than nine months in jail. In 2021, Rose, as a registered sex offender, volunteered at Bear River High School without notifying the school of his status. Despite breaking the law by being in a protected area without proper authorization, prosecutors decided not to charge him, citing a ‘mediocre’ police investigation that failed to interview key witnesses or verify Rose’s statements.
