In February 2021, Officer Jervis Middleton was terminated after being accused of providing information to racial justice protesters. Middleton, who is Black, alleged that his dismissal was a result of racial discrimination within the department. He filed a lawsuit claiming a hostile work environment and disparate treatment compared to white officers accused of more severe misconduct. The lawsuit is ongoing, and Middleton seeks reinstatement and damages.
