In 2017, Cpl. Joel Daugreilh allegedly pepper-sprayed a handcuffed teenager, Nathan Willey, in a holding cell after Willey did not follow orders to stop kicking the cell door. Daugreilh resigned amid the city’s internal review. The Attorney General reopened the investigation in January 2020, and Daugreilh was charged with simple assault. He pleaded not guilty, and the case is pending.
