    In March 2021, Deputy John Gaudet participated in a traffic stop involving Nia Mills, where he and other deputies allegedly violated her Fourth Amendment rights. The officers were accused of conducting unreasonable searches and seizures, including searching Ms. Mills’s personal belongings and impounding her car without justification. In November 2024, a federal judge denied the officers qualified immunity, permitting the case to move forward to trial.
