In December 2015, Sgt. John Italasano, a 23-year veteran of the North Park Police Department, was placed on paid suspension and faced termination due to multiple allegations, including public urination, allowing his son to access the police department’s records management system, and insubordination. Italasano requested a public hearing regarding his potential termination. However, before the hearing took place, a confidential settlement was reached, allowing him to retire early instead of being terminated.
