In late 2017 and early 2018, Deputy John Leonard engaged in inappropriate conduct with two women while on duty. In October 2017, he had repeated and inappropriate interactions with an underage female employee at a Florence Coffee location, resulting in a complaint and a one-week suspension without pay. In January 2018, Leonard inappropriately touched a casino employee at the Town Pump in Bonner while on duty. Following an internal investigation, he resigned in February 2018 to avoid termination. The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation reviewed the case and determined that while Leonard’s actions were unprofessional, they did not warrant criminal prosecution.
