Sgt. John Nieder faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. In 2014, he was fired for sexually harassing a female detective, but an arbitrator reinstated him, deeming termination too harsh. In 2019, Deputy Mike Adrian accused Nieder of inappropriate touching; the county settled Adrian’s lawsuit for $105,000 in 2022. In October 2022, Nieder was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree rape, accused of drugging and assaulting two women he met via a dating app. He resigned in October 2023 before a disciplinary hearing.
