In July 2018, Officer Jon Little fatally shot 16-year-old Logan Simpson during a pursuit. Little had previously been fired from the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office for being ‘unfit for duty’ and ‘repeatedly violat[ing] departmental policy.’ Despite this history, he was hired by the Bixby Police Department. The shooting led to a lawsuit alleging excessive force and wrongful death. The case highlighted concerns about Little’s prior conduct and the department’s hiring practices.
