On June 1, 2023, Deputy Davis, 50, attended a church board hearing in Blackville, SC, where he engaged in a verbal altercation with a board member. Davis escalated the situation by running toward the individual and pushing them from behind. The incident was captured on church surveillance footage. Davis was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and battery, and subsequently placed on administrative leave by the Sheriff’s Office.
