Bexar County Detention Deputy Jose Nunez was arrested in June 2018 and charged with the ‘super aggravated’ sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl. Investigators say Nunez, a 10-year BCSO veteran, abused the child over several months and threatened to have her undocumented mother deported if she reported him. Sheriff Javier Salazar called the case ‘heartbreaking, disturbing, disgusting and infuriating.’ Nunez was fired from BCSO and faced a potential life sentence if convicted.
