Officer Joseph Carriveau faced allegations of plagiarism and dishonesty during his time at the Vermont Police Academy in 2015. He was suspended from the 99th class and dismissed from the Northfield Police Department. Despite these issues, he re-enrolled in the 100th class, graduated, and was hired by the Berlin Police Department. In 2018, his credibility was questioned in court, leading to the dismissal of cases he was involved in. Consequently, he was placed on unpaid leave pending further investigation.
