Officer Joseph Enricco was involved in a September 11, 2018, incident where Scott County Sheriff’s Deputy Jaime Morales was paralyzed during the apprehension of a fugitive. Enricco, who had only completed basic response team training a month prior and lacked vehicle assault training, allegedly discharged his weapon, resulting in Morales’ injury. A lawsuit filed by Morales alleges that Enricco’s lack of training and experience contributed to the incident. Enricco has since resigned from the department.
