Lieutenant Josh Bauermeister was placed on administrative leave in September 2024 following an investigation into the department’s work environment, including allegations of mistreatment of subordinates. In December 2024, he agreed to resign by the end of the year as part of a settlement with the City of Norfolk, receiving a payout of $150,000. The settlement stated that no allegations were sustained against him.
