Correctional Officer Joshwa Edsall was fired and charged with battery on October 26, 2022, after an incident involving an inmate. Edsall responded to an inmate disturbance and used pepper spray on the inmate. When the inmate turned away to wipe his eyes, Edsall grabbed him and threw him into a concrete wall, causing head and facial injuries. The inmate fell to the ground, and Edsall forcibly drove his knee into the inmate’s back and used his taser. The inmate was transported to Baptist Nassau Hospital for treatment. Edsall was hired in March 2022 and had no prior complaints during his seven months of employment.
