In June 2005, Officer Julie Schroeder fatally shot Daniel Rocha during an incident. An investigation found that Schroeder violated multiple department policies, including improper use of deadly force. As a result, she was fired from the Austin Police Department. The city of Austin agreed to a $1 million settlement in a lawsuit related to Rocha’s death.
