On December 7, 2020, Officer Kelvin Battle was accused of bribery, official corruption, discourtesy, false statements, and misconduct. A public complaint detailed an incident where Officer Battle allegedly followed a citizen after they refueled at a gas station near the Lineville Police Department, tailgated them, and issued a citation for following too closely, despite dashcam evidence suggesting otherwise. The complaint also referenced Officer Battle’s prior guilty plea to theft of government property, raising concerns about his integrity. The court reportedly refused to accept the citizen’s evidence, resulting in a criminal misdemeanor charge for a minor traffic violation.
