In 2007, Deputy Sheriff Kenneth R. Eck Jr. was terminated for insubordination, serious misconduct, conduct unbecoming an employee, and dereliction of duty. He conducted an unauthorized investigation into two county employees for personal reasons, misused county resources, and refused to answer questions during the investigation. His actions included improper use of county resources, abuse of his position, release of confidential information, and making derogatory remarks about the Sheriff. The termination was upheld by the Appellate Division, Third Department.
