On October 26, 2023, Trooper Kevin W. Tomberlin was accused of misconduct during a traffic stop. The complainant alleged that Tomberlin falsely claimed they were racing and speeding at 110 mph in a 55 mph zone. Despite the driver’s denial and request for evidence, Tomberlin issued a citation, later altering his account to state he had paced the vehicle. The complainant accused Tomberlin of making false statements and violating their right to travel.
