In December 2019, off-duty Officer Kyle Lloyd was involved in a fatal car crash that killed Moore High School senior Emily Gaines. Lloyd was driving at 94 mph when he collided with Gaines’ vehicle. He was charged with first-degree manslaughter. Additionally, two days after the crash, Lloyd requested the shredding of a discipline report from his personnel file, which was done by a records clerk unaware of the pending charges. The trial was set to begin in April 2021.
