On July 7, 2023, Detective Larry Guss Curtis conducted a welfare check at Kimberly Myers’ residence. Despite lacking a warrant, Curtis forcibly entered the home, causing injury to Myers’ foot. This incident led to a federal lawsuit alleging civil rights violations, battery, and malicious prosecution. The lawsuit was settled with Myers receiving $350,000 from Curtis and the City of Frankfort. Curtis resigned from the Frankfort Police Department in August 2023 and was later terminated from the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office after a few months.
