Between February and July 2019, Lieutenant Scott Orton was accused of sexually harassing a dispatcher, referred to as Jane Doe, under his supervision. The alleged misconduct included inappropriate comments on her physical appearance, unwanted sexual touching, and making inappropriate sexual gestures. An internal investigation was initiated in December 2019, but before its conclusion, Lt. Orton resigned from the department effective December 31, 2019. The dispatcher filed a lawsuit alleging hostile work environment, retaliation, and constructive discharge under Title VII, as well as other claims. The case is currently pending.
