Lt. Dennis Harris was involved in a January 30, 2019, incident where an informant was mistakenly identified and injured during an arrest. Harris offered the informant $2,000 and promised to cover medical expenses in exchange for continued cooperation, which the informant later described as ‘hush money.’ Harris was removed as task force director and reassigned within the sheriff’s office; he retired shortly thereafter. The sheriff’s office did not consider this a formal disciplinary action.
