In 2013, former police dispatcher Dominic Pratt filed a lawsuit alleging that Lt. Jared Salinaro engaged in severe and pervasive harassment based on the perception that Pratt was gay. Salinaro was accused of using his K-9 to jump on and nip at Pratt, threatening Pratt with pepper spray, and on several occasions, spraying it at his lower body and into his car window. The lawsuit also claimed that Salinaro threatened Pratt with physical harm if he told anyone about the harassment. The case was settled in 2023, though the terms of the agreement have not been made public.
