On December 29, 2006, Lt. Mike Gray used pepper spray on inmate Michael Perry after Perry covered a camera with a blanket and allegedly made threatening remarks. Perry claimed he was sprayed multiple times without provocation and was denied immediate decontamination, leading to injuries including vision problems. Gray stated he acted in response to Perry’s behavior and offered decontamination after the incident. The case was documented in Perry v. Crane et al.
