In August 2012, Lt. Patrice Lambert, a deputy sheriff for nearly 30 years, was terminated allegedly for failing a firearms test. Lambert contended that Sheriff Tom McComas did not enforce the policy consistently and that male officers were given more attempts to pass and even encouraged to cheat. She also claimed her firing was retaliatory, following her discrimination complaint with the EEOC and her role as a witness in another gender discrimination case. Lambert filed a lawsuit in August 2014, which was settled and dismissed in January 2015.
