In 2017, Lt. Sal DiMercurio was accused of sexually assaulting a fellow officer during a work-related, out-of-state training conference. The alleged victim claimed that DiMercurio forced her to engage in sex acts in his hotel room and later pressured her to lie during the department’s investigation, which she alleged was mishandled to cover up the incidents. DiMercurio has since retired from the department.
