In 2013, Major Nicholas Plazio, commander of the Criminal Investigations Division, was charged with misconduct in office for allegedly providing false information to the State’s Attorney’s Office and giving false testimony in two criminal cases. These actions led to the dismissal of charges in a first-degree murder case and related offenses. Plazio resigned from his position following the charges.
