In March 2024, Deputy Marc Smith was arrested on charges including luring a minor, third-degree sexual abuse, public indecency, and private indecency. The alleged incidents occurred off-duty. Following the arrest, Smith was placed on administrative leave, and the Oregon State Police initiated an investigation. The case was referred to the Crook County District Attorney’s Office for further proceedings.
