In March 2023, Captain Mark Campbell was terminated following allegations of past sexual harassment involving multiple female officers during his tenure at the Hartsville Police Department. Incidents included unsolicited physical contact such as bear hugs, kisses on the cheek and forehead, and shoulder massages. Prior to his resignation from the Hartsville Police Department in 2020, Campbell was under investigation for inappropriate interactions with a female Walmart employee. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) initiated an investigation into these allegations in March 2023.
