Detective Mark Taylor was accused of mistreating female victims of sexual assault. In one instance in 2020, he allegedly yelled at a rape victim, accused her of lying, and closed her case, leading the victim to withdraw from the investigation. In another case, he interviewed a minor victim alone, against department policy, and dismissed her allegations as false. The suspect later confessed to the crime. These actions led to a lawsuit by former victim witness coordinator Aleshea Boals, resulting in a $425,000 settlement in 2023.
