In August 2017, Officer Michael Amiott conducted a traffic stop on Richard Hubbard III. During the stop, Amiott was recorded repeatedly punching Hubbard, leading to public outrage. Amiott was initially suspended and later fired, but an arbitrator reinstated him. In July 2022, he was found guilty of assault and interfering with civil rights. The city settled a lawsuit with Hubbard and his girlfriend for $450,000 in April 2021.
