In 2011, Officer Michael Denton was involved in the arrest of Bryan Spradlin, during which Denton was recorded stepping on Spradlin’s head, driving his face into the floor, and elbowing him in the face three times. This led to his termination for violating the department’s excessive force policy. An arbitrator later reinstated him with back pay. In 2015, Denton was again terminated after using a shotgun to strike Cody Mathews during an arrest. He was acquitted of criminal charges in 2017 but was not reinstated.
