In November 2018, Trooper Michael Kennedy was involved in an incident where a handcuffed teenager was beaten during a traffic stop. Dashcam footage showed officers yanking the teen through the driver’s side window, throwing him to the ground, and repeatedly kicking, stomping, and punching him. Kennedy was terminated in January 2019 following an internal investigation but was acquitted of federal charges in December 2019 after a judge ruled that prosecutors did not prove he acted willfully.
