Officer Michael Pessoa, a 19-year veteran, was convicted in May 2023 for assaulting a civilian, David Lafrance, during a 2019 arrest. Pessoa struck Lafrance in the face while he was being uncuffed, leading to charges of assault and battery, civil rights violations, and filing false reports. He was sentenced to at least 18 months in prison.
