In 2005, Deputy Michael Thomas Slayton was terminated for ‘conduct unbecoming an officer’ after investigations revealed he engaged in sexual activity with at least two women while on duty. One woman alleged coercion, stating Slayton used his uniform to intimidate her into compliance. The California Department of Justice investigated but did not prosecute due to insufficient evidence. Additionally, Slayton was jailed for threatening and stalking his wife during divorce proceedings, resulting in a sentence of five years’ probation.
